<p>Online Education has had its opponents from the start.</p>
<p>People are afraid of change and who can blame them? But we are seeing more and more evidence that online education is growing, especially <a title="Criminal Justice Careers" href="http://www.mycriminaljusticecareers.com/">criminal justice</a> and they will continue to grow regardless of the critics. You want proof you say? Take a gander at these recent news bits.</p>
<ul>
<li>Recently, Western Governors University (WGU), one of the nation&#8217;s leading<a title="My Colleges and Careers" href="http://www.mycollegesandcareers.com"> online colleges</a>, announced a $1.2 million investment from the<a title="Bill and Melinda Gates" href="http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx"> Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation</a> to examine how its flexible, competency-based degree programs can help improve the nation’s low graduation rates among low-income and minority students ages 18-26.&#8221;</li>
<li>The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, an Atlanta-based accrediting agency, has granted approval for Keiser University to offer programs at the Ph.D level. The first doctorate program to be offered will be the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership, Keiser officials say. They say the increase to the doctorate level is substantial because the university just starting offering bachelor&#8217;s degrees in 2003.</li>
<li>Kap­l­an U­niv­ersity, a l­eading p­rov­ider of­ h­igh­er edu­cation onl­ine, annou­nced today th­e l­au­nch­ of­ 13 new stu­dy p­rogram­­s onl­ine, incl­u­ding a degree of­ p­ol­itical­ ‘ Env­ironm­­ent and M­­anagem­­ent and th­ree degrees in F­ire Science. Th­ese new grades are one of­ th­e f­astest growing and are designed to h­el­p­ stu­dents b­roaden th­eir career ch­oices.</li>
<li>Walden University, an online university that offers more than three dozen <a title="My Colleges and Careers" href="http://www.mycollegesandcareers.com"><span style="position: static; text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #162f65 ! important; font-weight: 400; font-size: 12px; position: static;"><span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #162f65; color: #162f65 ! important; font-family: Arial,Tahoma,Verdana; font-weight: 400; font-size: 12px; position: static; background-color: transparent;">degree </span><span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #162f65; color: #162f65 ! important; font-family: Arial,Tahoma,Verdana; font-weight: 400; font-size: 12px; position: static; background-color: transparent;">programs</span></span></span></a>, had 4,300 students graduate on Saturday. The graduation, which had representatives from all 50 states and more than 20 countries around the world, was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center.</li>
